Unlocking the ultimate potential for every party member in Final Fantasy 10 requires acquiring their specialized Celestial Weapons. Wakka's formidable weapon, known as the World Champion, transforms him into one of the most powerful physical damage dealers in the game. Obtaining and fully powering up this weapon demands dedicated involvement with Spira's favorite aquatic sport, Blitzball.

Acquiring the World Champion Base Weapon

To claim the base World Champion weapon, you must first possess the Celestial Mirror. Once you have secured this key item, travel to the city of Luca and visit the local cafe. Speaking to the bartender will prompt her to give you the weapon, provided you have placed at least third in a Blitzball tournament or won five matches.

Initially, the World Champion comes equipped with the undesirable No AP ability, meaning Wakka cannot gain sphere level points in battle while wielding it. To unleash its true strength and grant abilities like Break Damage Limit and Triple Overdrive, you must upgrade it using two unique items. These key items are the Jupiter Crest and the Jupiter Sigil.

Finding the Jupiter Crest in Luca

Locating the Jupiter Crest is a straightforward task that requires minimal effort compared to the rest of the questline. After visiting the cafe, head over to the Luca Stadium and make your way toward the team locker rooms.

Enter the Besaid Aurochs' locker room and search the lockers located along the back wall. Inspecting these lockers will allow you to obtain the crest without having to participate in any extra minigames. Presenting this item to the glowing altar in Macalania Woods will grant the weapon its first tier of power.

Winning the Jupiter Sigil Through Blitzball

Securing the Jupiter Sigil requires significant time investment since it is tied directly to Blitzball tournament rewards. You must first win all three of Wakka's Overdrive reels—Attack Reels, Status Reels, and Aurochs Reels—from various Blitzball leagues and tournaments.

Once all three Overdrive reels have been unlocked, the Jupiter Sigil will appear as a first-place reward in a Blitzball League with a 50% chance. Winning this ten-game league yields the final required component to fully awaken Wakka's weapon.

Empowering the Weapon in Macalania Woods

With the World Champion, Jupiter Crest, and Jupiter Sigil in your possession, return to the crystal path inside Macalania Woods. Approach the sacred altar where you transformed the Cloudy Mirror into the Celestial Mirror.

Offer both the crest and sigil to the altar to eliminate the No AP penalty completely. Once fully upgraded, the World Champion grants Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, Double AP, and Evade & Counter. It also allows Wakka to deal max damage based on his current health, turning his Attack Reels into a devastating boss-killing tool.
